Community
Participation by the information security community is an important element in the success of the MAEC initiative. Please join us on MITRE’s Handshake collaboration Web site, the primary location for the MAEC Community to post files and discuss the latest draft of the MAEC schema, upcoming and proposed schemas, beta versions of tools, example MAEC content, technical documents, and other items integral to the ongoing development of the MAEC Language.
Handshake facilitates project collaboration through the creation and moderation of groups, and allows for diverse content creation and discussion through a flexible portal-like interface. The MAEC Development Group on Handshake allows the MAEC Community to more easily share and revise information and files, and to post items such as example content in a more secure environment. Once registered, any MAEC Development Group member on Handshake can create discussion topics and upload content.
While discussions may be shared equally in Handshake posts and on the MAEC Discussion List, the MAEC Development Group on Handshake will include documents and downloads that are exclusive to group members. To join Handshake, please contact us at maec@mitre.org.

The MAEC initiative seeks industry coordination in three areas:
- Review and comments on the MAEC Enumerations of malware attributes.
- Review and comments on the MAEC Schema syntax for the MAEC Language.
- Review and comments on the MAEC Bundle output format for storing and sharing MAEC-encoded information about malware.
We encourage you to contribute by offering feedback on the various draft elements of MAEC as they become available. Please send all feedback to the MAEC Development Group on Handshake, MAEC Discussion List, and/or maec@mitre.org.
